New Alaska Sailing Club Bistro Mugs !!!

Brand new Alaska Sailing Club Bistro Mugs are here just in time for that perfect Christmas gift. These are the same quality etched mugs created by the Brecht Studio who has made those great Sailing Club race trophys. The mugs are being sold nearly at cost, just $18 each. If you order by Friday evening we will make arrangements to have the mugs at the Alaska Sailing Club Holiday party on Friday (not Saturday as I had posted earlier). Email your orders to aklalonde@aol.com. The mugs come in blue or burgundy as shown above. We have a limited stock on hand and we can't guarantee that we will have another order ready by Christmas.

Get on the Blog the Easy Way

Yo Sailors,

It's full on winter, complete with ice storms and freezing rain.  What better time to learn a new skill?

You've seen the blog posts by others and thought, "I'd like to do that, but it's too much trouble, what with all that weird blogger stuff, etc.", "Takes too long.", "I'll do it later"....

Well now, you can post to the blog directly via email.  You can even do it via smart phone email.  That's how I did these (complete with photos):

The email address to post is provided separately.

The email subject line becomes the blog post title.

And More Harken Highlights!!

And, of course, Harken's salute to the Hobie 16.

More Harken Highlights!!

Not to be outdone by Tom's Buc post below.... here's Harken's salute to the 505.

Damages

Everyone is so sorry to hear about the damage to Keith, Bruce & Tina, and George's boats. George lost his motor and has hull damage. Of course we have all heard that Keith's and the Lelonde's boats were severly damaged. Hopefully George will find his motor and repairs will allow everyone to sail next season.
The RL was damaged as well. It has a large area that will need to be removed. It is very soft and there is question if she is even worth fixing? Careful consideration will be given to the problem and no quick decisions will be made. The pontoon boat will need to have work as well. The most alarming problem is the severe shoreline erosion. I will post additional photos of that and the docks.

Frostbite Results

I gave Paul the wrong information. In the results of the Frostbite Regatta the skipper of 2838 was incorrectly identified as Dawn Aumann when in fact the skipper was Tom Harrison.

It should be noted in the scratch challenge held later in the day, involving Bucs 5262, 5263 and 2838. Dawn Auman did in fact skipper 2838 to second place ahead of 5263.

August White Sail Pictures

I think we should have named this White Sail event the "What-A-Sail" event. Although it was a bit cloudy (and eventually did rain), the winds were great and the lake was full of ASC sailboats. Thanks Chris for getting this new event organized!

Boy Scouts at ASC

With the help of Bruce and Tina LaLonde, 2 scouts were able to complete the last steps needed for their Sailing Merit Badge. Both boys are very close to their Eagle Scout recognition. Even little Isaac LaLonde joined in the action for the capsize drill. It was great fun!
