Seasons Change and so did I, I really don't..... - Test Posting, original on FB Oct 3
So our last regatta is done, boats are put away and the leaves are turning at the ASC. But we do have exciting news: HDR was out this week doing survey and engineering work ahead of the final (and most substantial) chapter of our shoreline... restoration project. This will mean both a solution to our ongoing erosion problem _and_ much better fish & wildlife habit. Thanks to ADF&G, US Fish & Wildlife Sevice and especially to club member Bruce Lee for making this all happen!

Happy snow day, fellow sailors! Since we finally have some white stuff on the ground folks probably aren't thinking of sailing right now, but we did want to remind everybody that our annual meeting is TONIGHT, from 5:45 to 8:00 pm at the Snow Goose. We'll be electing new board members, getting a "state of the club" update including some exciting shoreline news and handing out trophies. And of course we'll have a slide show with great pics from this summer. So come and out an join us for a bit of business and a generous dose ASC winter cheer!

2013 Governor's Cup Final Results
The racing was close, for most, and we ended up with a tie in points for first place. Sailwave automatically deals with this using Appendix A of the The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 - Effective 1 January 2013:
A8 SERIES TIES
A8 SERIES TIES
- A8.1 If there is a series-score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.
- A8.2 If a tie remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

About
Red Bull Youth America’s Cup
Scheduled September 1-4, the America’s Cup Village, at Marina Green, will play host to some of the best young sailors in the world in the inaugural Red Bull Youth America’s Cup.The Red Bull Youth America’s Cup features 10 national teams of sailors between 19 and 24 years of age competing on AC45 catamarans. The event is intended to provide young sailors a clearly defined pathway toward a career at the pinnacle of the sport.
The teams have been training for months under the watchful eyes and mentorship of Red Bull sports directors Roman Hagara and Hans-Peter Steinacher, double Olympic gold medalists in the Tornado multihull class.
“The young guys are learning about what it takes to compete at the highest levels of the sport,” Hagara says. “It’s not just about sailing skill but also fitness, nutrition, how they conduct themselves with the media, dedication, and working within a team.”
The sailors are expected to arrive in San Francisco on August 8 and to receive their AC45 catamarans for training on August 12. The sailors on the teams competing couldn’t be more enthusiastic.
“It’s honestly the most amazing feeling ever!” said USA45 Racing trimmer and team manager Jacob La Dow of San Diego, California. “It’s a dream come true.”
Two American crews were chosen in the fall of 2012 after a two-week selection series on San Francisco Bay. Eight international crews were selected after similar trials in February.
“It was a mind-blowing week,” said Jason Waterhouse, the 21-year-old skipper of Objective Australia. “We learned so much. It’s our first time racing together as a crew, but we gelled well. We would’ve liked better results, but our preparation was sound.”
“It was a brilliant week. We didn’t expect to be first, but we stayed grounded through the week and kept improving,” said 23-year-old Philip Buhl of Germany’s All In Racing. “We really improved our maneuvers and teamwork. In the end, we learned not to talk so much. All of us learned to do our jobs, and then we went out and did them.”
